We went down to Port Vell to draw by the boats. I continued with my little book and have now run out of pages, need to sew some more to continue with the full 360 view.

Here's a snap of me and my morning's work!

Sunday, 15 November 2015

Well, it really has been a long time.
To make up for that here is a Sunday walk collage. We went to Manlleu for a riverside walk in the autumn air. I loved it! A wonderful sunny and unseasonably warm mid-November day.

We came across a house which had made full use of the pebbles from the river, decorated scenes in the back garden and even a mini Sagrada Familia!

Here's most of the series together.

Really they're process based as I wanted to see what I lack in my painting. I thought by limiting the size (15x15 cm) I would be able to see common errors. I had intended to use a limited pallet too but as you can see, that really didn't happen!

Also some stitching has been happening since I got this book, by Rebecca Ringquist, for my birthday from my fabulous mama.

It's been ages... I blame instagram

Here are some things I've been doing.

I thought I'd try gouache as I hadn't used it since 'colour theory' classes on my foundation course (that's a long time ago!)

Also I've a million and one photos that I've never used. So these are part of a series.

This has now has a new home with a very dear friend!

Making photos below.

It all started last year with Lucy Sparrow's corner shop and a tin of Spam, see post from 24th August 2014.

Here's the finished basket. I'm pretty happy with it and looking forward to warmer weather so I can take a picnic out in it.

Here are some of the making photos.
First we made the handle then the rim and joined them together. Then added the ribs and got on with the weaving part.

These are some Christmas presents I made for lovely friends:

A knitted kebab;

Some zipper pouches...

and this which I did not make but it is a fine post!

Thursday, 12 February 2015

Here are the first of my new gouache paintings. Quality of the photos could be better, but it gives you an idea.

No classes in February as I'm just too busy! Basket making this Saturday with Mónica. I'm very excited about it!

Oh, and the first sock continues...

Here are some snaps from Christmas in Budapest.

We had a fantastic time and look forward to returning another time to enjoy more from this beautiful city. The food was great and we learned that cabbage is well loved here and one glass of mulled wine is pretty potent stuff.

We saw some paintings by Adolf Fényes who did some lovely interior and still life paintings.

Also an excellent exhibition at the Hungarian National Gallery (MNG) of Rippl-Rónai and Maillol which explored the work and the importance of the relationship between these two artisits who were working largely at the end of the 19th and the start of the 20th centuries. The exhibition continues until April 2015.

Hello and a very happy 2015 to you!
I haven't been slacking - here are a few treats I've been working on.

1. House warming/New Year pompom chain (who needs Anthropologie?)

2. David Shrigley cushion cover. Made from a tea towel which was too nice to use for washing up.

3. Unfortunate baking. This lemon and poppy seed cake was delicious before it went into the oven. However, coupled with the fact that our oven doesn't work very well and I always forget to add enough baking powder (no self-raising here) this cake was very dense. Crispy on the outside, under-done on the inside.
